Spencer

Age: 8 yr

Weight: 100 lb

Spencer is a fabulous dog, who wants to be your one and only. When you are home, he wants to be near you and loves to snuggle on the couch or in bed or anywhere you happen to be. He prefers if you are home all day or at least more often than not and would not do well with someone who is out of the house all day. He “smiles” and gets so excited when you’ve been gone and come home to him. He’ll do a little tippy-tap dance with his front legs when he just can’t contain how happy he is to see you! He can be left alone freely without crating without a problem.

He can be a gentle friend, sitting quietly at your feet while you work or watch TV. He does have moderate energy and plays with his favorite shark toy or goes outside in the fenced yard to explore and smell the smells during the day. At night, he sleeps quietly through the night so there’s no need for a crate.

He likes to go outside a lot, so a fenced yard is preferred, but not required if you are willing to leash him up and take him for walks. He loves walks and adores riding in cars. He rides spectacularly well. He’s got a lot of stamina for a slightly older dog and can do a few miles for his walks easily, but can also do short walks without needing more. He’s good on leash unless – SQUIRREL!

He’s a big floof, with a big body and a big personality to match. He can be opinionated so needs a confident, experienced owner to continue training him to obey when told to do something. He has a tendency to resource guard food and his favorite toys, so a home with other dogs or small children would not be a good fit for him. His fosters are working on the resource guarding and hope his new owners will continue working with him to establish trust and obedience to reduce/eliminate those behaviors.

Spencer is such a great dog. He’s ready for a loving family to treasure him and love him completely.
